Bulldogs Close Out CCSA Championships with Highest Finish in Program History

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – UNC Asheville swim and dive posted their highest finish in program history as they claimed a fourth place spot in the four-day CCSA Conference Championships that concluded Saturday.
UNC Asheville also scored the most points in program history as the Bulldogs finished the championship meet with 782 total points. Â
Prelims – Saturday Morning Session
The Bulldogs just kept on rolling as more phenomenal swimming took place in the Saturday morning prelim session. Another freshman record was set this morning along with eight lifetime-best times and 10 season-best times from the Bulldogs.Â
Nora Segurola Larrinaga kicked off the morning session with a huge swim for the Bulldogs in the 200 back as she qualified for a spot in the A final and set a freshman record with a lifetime-best time of 2:02.51.
Christa Jones swam a lifetime-best as well as she earned a spot in the B final in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.16. Two Bulldogs swam season-bests in the 200 back as Madi Baron finished with a time of 2:13.77 and Lexi Federico swam a time of 2:10.04.
Bela Stuart Vieira led the way for the Bulldogs in the 100 free as the freshman qualified for the B final with a time of 52.19. Delaney Carlton will swim in the C final after posting a lifetime-best with a time of 52.22.
Jessie Frank also earned a spot in the C final of the 100 free with a time of 52.53. Adee Weller swam a season-best time in the event with a time of 52.84. That mark didn't stand for long as Weller competed in a swim-off and set a new season-best time of 52.55.
Lauren Dunne swam a lifetime-best in the 100 free with a lifetime-best time of 54.84. Hannah Bruno also swam in the event and finished with a time of 56.60.
Three Bulldogs earned spots in the B final in the 200 breast as Amelia Ham led the way with a season-best time of 2:25.31. Ellis Nelson was right behind with a lifetime-best time of 2:25.77 while Alexis Baker also swam a lifetime-best time of 2:26.02.
Lily Sullivan qualified for the C final in the 200 breast with a season-best time of 2:27.68 while Christina Marshall will also compete in the C final as she swam a time of 2:30.25.
Marlee Burgess swam a lifetime-best in the 200 breast as she finished with a time of 2:33.10. Mackenzie Humphrey also competed in the event and swam a time of 2:33.44. Skye Lewis swam a season-best time in the event with a 2:34.21 while Meredith Bunting finished the event with a time of 2:35.09.
Two Bulldog seniors earned a spot in the A final of the 200 fly as both Catherine Allen and Madison Rogan swam season-best times of 2:03.80 (Allen) and 2:04.42 (Rogan).
Anna Nabors will swim in the 200 fly B final as she swam a lifetime-best time of 2:04.61 this morning. Aleta Jewell earned a place in the event's C final as she finished with a season-best time of 2:11.93.
Lauren Dunne competed in the time trial 100 free and finished the event with a time of 54.86. Â Â Â
Finals – Saturday Evening Session
UNC Asheville closed out their final session with some more successes as the Bulldog set a new school record, a new freshman record, six more lifetime-best times and five more season-best times in the closing sessions.
The Bulldogs set a school record in the 400 free relay as Bela Stuart Vieira (51.55), Delaney Carlton (51.37), Jessie Frank (51.70) and Adee Weller (52.06) combined for an overall time of 3:26.68, shattering the previous UNC Asheville record.
Skylar Rogan finished with a season-best time in the mile as the senior claimed a fifth place finish with a time of 17:00.41. Aleta Jewell and Madi Baron each finished the event with season-best times as well as they swam times of 18:18.30 (Jewell) and 18:04.19 (Baron).
Nora Segurola Larrinaga finished 8th in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.52 while Christa Jones earned a 15th place finish with a lifetime-best time of 2:04.82.
Delaney Carlton set a new freshman record in the 100 free with a lifetime-best time of 51.49. Bela Stuart Vieira finished 10th in the event with a lifetime-best time of 51.58 while Jessie Frank also swam a lifetime-best with a time of 52.43.
Amelia Ham swam a lifetime-best and earned a 10th place finish in the 200 breast as she finished with a time of 2:23.44. Alexis Baker also earned a lifetime-best in the event with a time of 2:24.46.
Lily Sullivan and Christina Marshall both swam season-bests in the 200 breast as they each finished with times of 2:25.38 (Sullivan) and 2:25.98 (Marshall). Ellis Nelson finished the
event with a time of 2:29.57.
Catherine Allen led the Bulldogs in the 200 fly with a sixth place finish with a time of 2:04.35. Anna Nabors swam the event and finished with a time of 2:04.69 while Madison Rogan finished the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.19. Â
