Bulldogs Travel to South Carolina State Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For the second time this season, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team will hit the road as it travels to South Carolina State on Saturday. Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bulldogs dropped their previous game to Florida last Wednesday by a score of 70-48. The loss moved Asheville's record to 1-3 on the 2020-21 campaign.
1,000-Point Scorer Watch – With 14 points Wednesday against Florida, senior Nadiria Evans continues to move closer to scoring 1,000 points as a Bulldog. Evans, who has 920 points, would be just the 22nd Bulldog to achieve this milestone.
Boost from the Bench – Sophomore Faith Adams scored a career-high eight points off the Bulldogs' bench against Florida. Adams' scoring effort was the highest of any Asheville reserve this season and the most since Tamiah Lewis netted 15 points in the opening round of the Big South Tournament last March.
Fine on Free Throws – After shooting around 61 percent from the free throw line the first two games, the Bulldogs have rebounded and shot 80 percent or better in their last two games against Wofford and Florida.
Success on Saturdays – Asheville hopes to continue its success that it enjoyed last season when playing on Saturdays. In 2019-20, the Bulldogs won seven of the 11 games played on Saturday.
About South Carolina State – SCSU enters Saturday's game with Asheville with a 0-4 record, including a 69-56 loss to UNC Wilmington its last time out. A player to watch for South Carolina State is Heniaya Moton, who is averaging a team-best 17.3 points per game.
Series Rewind vs. Opponent – Overall, South Carolina State and UNC Asheville have matched up seven times since the first meeting back in 2002. Asheville defeated SCSU 82-51 last December at Kimmel Arena.
