ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team had a stellar day at the Buncombe Aquatic Center on Saturday as it knocked off both Lenoir-Rhyne and Gardner-Webb by scores of 211-50 and 176-85, respectively. With the pair of victories, UNC Asheville's dual meet record moves to 2-1-1 on the season.
"I was happy with the energy we brought to the pool deck today," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "It's nice to have a few meets under our belts to help us prepare for an Invite later this semester and more hopeful meets in January and February."
The energy that Coach Lykins mentioned led the Bulldogs to success throughout the day. Asheville book ended the day with wins in the 200y medley relay and 200y free relay. Individually, the Bulldogs notched the top spot in eight of the 12 events and finished four events with the top three fastest times.
The eight individual event victories came from five different Bulldogs. Freshman Kylie Johnson won two events bringing her event win total to a team-best six through three meets. Addison Wright and Delaney Carlton also picked up a pair of victories, while Amelia Ham and Rachel Daly accounted for the other victories. For Daly, it marked her first collegiate event win.
In addition to the event victories, the Bulldogs also raised the bar in terms of season-best times. Carlton (50y free, 100y free) and Wright (100y back, 200y back) set new team-best marks in two events. Anna Nabors (2:09.97) and Alexis Walker (58.24) also put together the team's season top time to date in the 200y fly and 100y fly.
Before Saturday's meet, the Bulldogs honored senior Skye Lewis, who will be graduating in late November.

"I am extremely proud of our graduating senior, Skye Lewis," Lykins said. "She had an outstanding meet today and has brought so much to this team during her tenure at UNC Asheville. It was great for her to close out her career with a pair of wins. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her the best as she prepares for graduation next month."
The Bulldogs will return to action on November 20 when they compete in the three-day Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia.
