Bulldogs Place Sixth in Debut Event of 2019

LEXINGTON, Ky. – UNC Asheville's women's golf team finished the second day of competition at the Morehead State Greenbrier Invitational, Tuesday, placing sixth after 54 holes.

The Bulldogs entered the final round of play in sixth place after 36 holes of competition, Monday, and shot a combined score of 324 on the final 18 holes. Overall, the Bulldogs had a 54-hole team score of 961 – seven strokes clear of seventh-place finisher Illinois-Chicago.

Kellen Alsip finished as the low scorer for the Bulldogs in the tournament with a 54-hole score of 234, putting her inside the individual Top 20 with a 19th-place finish. She carded a 79 in the final 18 holes after recording a 75 in the second round.

Adelyn Deery had the low round of the day for the Bulldogs, carding a 76 after firing a 75 during the second round, Monday. Her three-round score of 236 put her at 21st in the individual standings.

Like Alsip and Deery, Janie Thomas also had two sub-80 rounds during the tournament, both coming Monday. She finished the event at Greenbrier Golf & Country Club a stroke behind teammate Deery, placing 22nd with an overall score 237.
Sophomore Baylee Evans finished as the fourth scorer for the Bulldogs, finishing 42nd with a three-round score of 254.

The Bulldogs will take a weekend off before heading to Greensboro to compete in the Starmount Fall Classic, hosted by UNCG, September 30 through October 1.
