Janie Thomas in Top 10 After Two Rounds at Greenbrier Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky.
– After two rounds of play at the Morehead State Greenbrier Invitational, Monday, UNC Asheville's women's golf team sits in sixth place and senior Janie Thomas currently finds herself in the Top 10 among individuals.

After the first 18 holes, the Bulldogs sat in eighth place after turning in a 324 as a team at the Greenbrier Golf & Country Club.

Thomas carded the best score for the Bulldogs in the first round, carding a 75 during the first 18 holes. She followed that up with a 78 during the second round, and now sits in a tie for ninth place on the individual leaderboard at nine-over-par.

The Bulldogs made a nice jump after the second round play, moving past Northern Kentucky and Illinois-Chicago to settle into sixth place after 36 holes of play, 11 strokes behind fifth-place Morehead State. Kellen Alsip and Adelyn Deery both played a big part in the move up the standings, as both carded a team-best 75 in the second round.

After getting through the first round with 80, Alsip went five strokes lower to finish the first two rounds of action at 155, tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard. Deery shaved 10 strokes off her first round score to come in tied for 26th place with a 36-hole score of 160.

Sophomore Baylee Evans finished the day as the Bulldogs fourth scorer, sitting at 43rd overall with a 36-hole score of 169.

The final round of action will begin at 9:15, Tuesday morning, with the Bulldogs set to play with fourth-place Tennessee Tech and the fifth-place Eagles. The Bulldogs will tee off from Holes 8-13 to begin the day.
