Women’s Soccer to Visit Howard on Friday

WASHINGTON – UNC Asheville's women's soccer team is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Howard University at 7 p.m., Friday, August 30, at Greene Stadium.
The Bulldogs opened their regular season, Friday, August 23 with a 2-0 loss to American at Greenwood Field. The Bulldogs then rebounded in a Sunday matchup at ETSU with a 1-0 overtime victory. The golden goal was scored by junior Skyler Chillson in the 96th minute after both defenses held the opposition scoreless at the end of regulation.
UNC Asheville and ETSU matched up well as the Bucs took 13 shots in the match, while the Bulldogs took 12. Bulldog goalkeeper, Courtney O'Malley, secured four saves in 78 minutes of play, giving her 11 saves on the season.
Sunday's victory was the first Bulldog win against ETSU since the 2009 season and the first road victory for the Bulldogs since the 2017 season.
Friday night's match will be the first matchup between UNC Asheville and Howard. The Bison opened their season with a 1-0 overtime victory against Mount St. Mary's. Howard is coming off a 2018 season that saw them finish 13-7-1, while also claiming the SWAC Tournament Championship. The Bison fell to North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
