Bulldogs to Kick Off 2019 Season by Hosting American

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's soccer will kick off its 2019 season by hosting American University at Greenwood Field, Friday, August 23, at 6 p.m.
This is the first time since the 2016 season that the Bulldogs will kick off the season on their home pitch. The 2018 season saw the Bulldogs finish with a record of 3-3-2 at Greenwood Field.
This match will be played as the second match in a Bulldog doubleheader, as UNC Asheville men's soccer will be taking on Marshall in an exhibition at 3:30 p.m.
Friday will officially mark the beginning of the Clifton Bush era of UNC Asheville women's soccer, as the assistant from last year's squad was named head coach in April. The Bulldogs have 14 returners and 11 newcomers on the squad for the 2019 season. Of the 11 newcomers, eight are freshman and three are transfers.
The Bulldogs took the pitch, Saturday, August 17, for a scrimmage versus South Carolina State and came away with a 6-0 victory. Five Bulldogs found the back of the net, while sophomore Gillian Oyos led the charge with two second half goals. The other goals were accounted for by returners Maya Gutman and Courtney McCluskey and newcomers Ava Nkadi and Chloe Lamenzo.

Tickets for the doubleheader are $6 and can be purchased at the gates. Fans can purchase the All-Sports Pass, which includes tickets for every men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and baseball event on campus. Reserved seating for the All-Sport Pass is $300 while General Admission seating is $175, which are both less than $4 per game.
