UNC Asheville Women’s Soccer Announces 2019 Schedule

2019 UNC Asheville Women's Soccer Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville first-year head coach Clifton Bush announced the 2019 women's soccer schedule on Friday, June 7, 2019.

The 2019 UNC Asheville women's soccer schedule features nine chances to catch the Bulldogs at home during the regular season.

"Our non-conference schedule is highlighted by matches against local rivals ETSU and Western Carolina as well as regional competition and NCAA Tournament team Howard University," Bush said. "No doubt, each game will prepare us for the rigors of Big South competition."

The Bulldogs will hit the road for five matches after the home opener against the Eagles. A couple of days after the regular season opener against American the Bulldogs will travel just up the road to Johnson City, Tenn. to battle ETSU of the SoCon at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.

UNC Asheville will travel to our nation's capital on Friday, Aug. 30 for a match against Howard of the SWAC at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs will then travel to Boone, N.C. to face mountain rival Appalachian State of the Sun Belt at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The Bulldogs will then have a few days off before traveling to the Lowcountry of South Carolina to face The Citadel of the SoCon at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6. UNC Asheville collected a thrilling 3-2 win over The Citadel at Greenwood Field last season on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018. UNC Asheville will close out its weekend next by traveling to Elon, N.C. for a 4 p.m. match against Elon of the Colonial Athletic Association on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The Bulldogs return home from the five-match road swing for a three-match homestand that begins with UNC Asheville hosting Mars Hill of the South Atlantic Conference at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The Bulldogs will then play host to Davidson of the Atlantic 10 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15.

UNC Asheville will welcome another one of its mountain rivals to Greenwood Field next in Western Carolina of the SoCon at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The match with the Catamounts is UNC Asheville's final non-conference match of the 2019 regular season.

The Bulldogs open Big South play at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 by traveling to Buies Creek, N.C. to battle the Camels of Campbell.

UNC Asheville will close out the month of September by hosting its first league game of the season with the Spartans of USC Upstate visiting Greenwood Field at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The Bulldogs will then host High Point at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

UNC Asheville will then head to the Commonwealth of Virginia for its next two Big South matches. The Bulldogs will first travel to Radford, Va. to battle the Highlanders of Radford at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Bulldogs will then travel to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia for a 3 p.m. match against Hampton on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The Bulldogs garnered a 1-0 win in double overtime over Hampton last season at Greenwood Field on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018.

The Bulldogs will welcome Charleston Southern to Greenwood Field for a 6 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 12. UNC Asheville's annual "Battle of the Bulldogs" is next on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with Asheville traveling to Gardner-Webb for a 7 p.m. match. The two finished last year's "Battle of the Bulldogs" in a 1-1 tie at Greenwood Field on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018.

The Bulldogs will welcome Longwood to Greenwood Field at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. The two programs battled to a 2-2 tie last season in Farmville, Va. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.

UNC Asheville's final regular season road match will see the Bulldogs travel to Rock Hill, S.C. for a 6 p.m. match against Winthrop on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Behind goals from Skyler Chillson and Justine James, the UNC Asheville women's soccer team earned a thrilling 2-1 win over Winthrop last season at Greenwood Field on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018.

The Bulldogs will close out their regular season at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 by hosting Presbyterian College at Greenwood Field.

"The competitiveness in this league is so high," Bush said of Big South play. "It will be up to the squad to meet the challenge each week. I am excited at the results of our work to build a talented and passionate roster. Bulldog fans will not want to miss out on being a part of their journey."
