Wilson Finishes With Three Hits and Three RBIs in Game One Loss to Radford

The Highlanders (24-24, 15-7 Big South) opened the game by scoring four runs in the top of the first, but the Bulldogs (14-31, 8-14 Big South) responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own.
The two runs in the bottom of the first were made possible by a double by Wilson that scored Jake Madole and Brandon Lankford.
Radford would score three more runs over the next couple of innings before the Bulldogs were able to get one run back in the bottom of the fourth on a Wilson solo home run to left field. The home run was the sixth of the season for Wilson.
The Highlanders held the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the way and ended the game out-hitting Asheville, 20-7.
Wilson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored in the game. Lankford was the only other Bulldog with multiple hits with two. He was 2-of-3 with a run scored.
Colby Higgerson led Radford with four hits in the win over the Bulldogs.
UNC Asheville starting pitcher Greg Gasparro (1-7) suffered the loss on the hill in the game. He was one of seven Bulldog pitchers. Tyler Serricchio had four strikeouts in dealing the final two innings for the Bulldogs.
Zack Ridgely (4-3) pitched the first six innings to earn the win for the Highlanders. Brandon Feathers pitched the final three innings to capture the three-inning save.
UNC Asheville and Radford will now close out their series with a doubleheader on Friday, May 10, at Greenwood Field. The first game is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.
The Bulldogs will honor their seven seniors in-between the games on Friday.
