Four Bulldogs Collect Multiple Hits in Game Two Loss at Presbyterian College

CLINTON, S.C. – UNC Asheville out-hit Presbyterian College on Saturday, but the Blue Hose were nevertheless able to take a 6-2 Big South win over the Bulldogs in the second game of the series.

Highlights

Presbyterian College (13-18, 6-5 Big South) scored the first run in the game before UNC Asheville evened things up at 1-1 with a single run in the top of the fourth inning.

PJ Heintz got things going for the Bulldogs in the top of the fourth with an infield single. He was then moved into scoring position a couple of batters later on an Anthony Cuozzi single to right-center field. Heintz made his way home shortly thereafter on an error.

UNC Asheville (11-18, 6-5 Big South) would take a 2-1 lead with a run in the top of the sixth inning.

After two quick outs, Kole Harris was walked for the Bulldogs. Greg Gasparro then singled up the middle to advance Harris to second. Dominic Freeberger took advantage of the runner in scoring position next with his single up the middle bringing home Harris to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.

The 2-1 lead would not last long though with the Blue Hose plating five in the bottom half of the same inning to go ahead 6-2. Neither team would score over their final at-bats to leave the Blue Hose with the four-run win.

Overall, the Bulldogs out-hit the Blue Hose, 11-9.

Four Bulldogs secured multiple hits with Freeberger, Brandon Lankford, Carmine Pagano and Cuozzi each ending their day with two hits.

Jonathan White led the Blue Hose with three hits.

Jacob Edwards (3-1) suffered his first loss of the year on the hill for the Bulldogs. One of three Bulldog pitchers utilized, Edwards pitched 5.1 innings and struck out three.

After two outs by Eric Whitecavage, Austin Fahr pitched well for two innings for the Bulldogs. He only allowed one hit.

In relief of starter Clark Dearman, Presbyterian College's Jackson Dean (2-3) picked up the win. He pitched three innings and was on the hill when the Blue Hose took the lead for good.
