UNC Asheville Women’s Golf Heads to South Carolina for 2019 Big South Women’s Golf Championship

NINETY SIX, S.C. – UNC Asheville women's golf will play in its third Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor April 12-14.
The championship will open with each team playing a practice round on Thursday, April 11.

Bulldogs at Big South Women's Golf Championship
Last year, the UNC Asheville women's golf team tied for fifth at the two-day postseason tournament at The Patriot Golf Club. In their first appearance in the event one year earlier, the Bulldogs finished in seventh overall, meaning there was a two-spot improvement from their inaugural appearance in the Big South Women's Golf Championship.
Based on the current GolfStat rankings, UNC Asheville will open play at the 2019 Big South Women's Golf Championship seeded eighth. Learn more HERE.
Women's Golf Wins Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate
For the third straight season, the UNC Asheville women's golf team won a tournament, as the Bulldogs claimed first place at the 2019 Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate on Friday, March 15, at the Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course.
The team victory marked the third straight season the Bulldogs have won a team title. The Bulldogs won the Oyster Shuck Match Play in their inaugural season and claimed first-place honors last season at the NKU Fall Classic.
Bulldogs Compete at Inaugural French Broad Collegiate Invitational
Taylor Hinson and Adelyn Deery led the Bulldogs to top-14 finishes, as the UNC Asheville women's golf team placed sixth to conclude the inaugural French Broad Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, March 26, at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.
Hinson led the Bulldog squad, as the sophomore finished tied for 11th overall. To conclude the 36-hole tournament, the Belmont, N.C. native shot a team-best 6-over 77. In the final 18 holes, Hinson carded 13 pars, including a stretch of six straight pars on the back nine. Hinson finished the outing at 11-over 153 (76-77), as she tied with two other golfers.
Deery was the second Bulldog in the top 14 individual standings, as the junior was in a two-way tie for 14th. In her second round, Deery posted a birdie on the par-4 hole nine and finished the front nine with a 1-over 37 score. She carded an 8-over 79 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 12-over 154 (75-79).

The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the Big South Women's Golf Championship for the 11th time overall, and will utilize a par 72, 6,230-yard layout to determine this year's champion. The 2019 Big South Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting begins Thursday, April 11 with a practice round. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played April 12-14 and is free and open to the public. In addition, fans can follow the action online via GolfStat's "Live Scoring" feature. The 2019 champion will receive the Big South's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals. Learn more HERE.
