ARDEN, N.C.Taylor Hinson and Adelyn Deery again led the Bulldogs to top-14 finishes, as the UNC Asheville women's golf team placed sixth to conclude the inaugural French Broad Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.

Hinson led the Bulldog squad, as the sophomore finished tied for 11th overall. To conclude the 36-hole tournament, the Belmont, N.C. native shot a team-best 6-over 77. In the final 18 holes, Hinson carded 13 pars, including a stretch of six straight pars on the back nine. Hinson finished the outing at 11-over 153 (76-77), as she tied with two other golfers.
 
Deery was the second Bulldog in the top 14 individual standings, as the junior was in a two-way tie for 14th. In her second round, Deery posted a birdie on the par-4 hole nine and finished the front nine with a 1-over 37 score. She carded an 8-over 79 on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 12-over 154 (75-79).
 
Freshman Baylee Evans had a two-stroke improvement from the opening round, as she ended the 36-hole tournament with a 9-over 80 round. The Sumter, S.C. native carded a pair of birdies, which was tied for the team lead on Tuesday. She finished the tournament tied for 33rd at 20-over 162.
 
Kellen Alsip had the third-best overall finish for UNC Asheville at the first-ever French Broad Collegiate Invitational at tied for 28th. She posted an 18-over 160 (77-83) in the outing.
 
Janie Thomas and Linna Brooks rounded out the finishes for UNC Asheville at tied for 37th and tied for 42nd, respectively, on the individual leaderboard.
 
As a team, UNC Asheville finished in sixth place at 61-over 629 (310-319). The Bulldogs finished ahead of two Big South Conference rivals – Longwood and Radford.
 
Appalachian State moved into first place on Tuesday with a 43-over 611 (306-305). Wofford and Gardner-Webb tied for runner-up with 45-over 613 scores.
 
Blanca Porta of USC Beaufort won the individual title at 1-over 143 (70-73). She finished with a two-stroke lead over Beatriz Mosquera Quintas of Radford.
 
What's Next?
 
To open postseason play, the UNC Asheville women's golf team will take a few weeks off to prepare for the Big South Championships in Ninety Six, S.C. The three-day tournament begins on Friday, April 12.
