Golfers Afforded Truly Unique Opportunity to Hear From Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez at Inaugural French Broad Collegiate Invitational

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – It's not often that you get to hear from a Hall of Famer, but that's exactly the opportunity that was afforded to the collegiate golfers at the inaugural French Broad Collegiate Invitational at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.
Just a few hours after finishing up their first round of play the participants heard from not only Lopez but also Donna Bailey, a Walnut Cove resident who has been instrumental in the implementation of women's golf at UNC Asheville (story).
In addition, a function was held just before the dinner with Lopez for friends of the women's golf program and The Cliffs.
It was a truly a special evening for all involved with the opportunity to hear from Lopez one that all in attendance cherished.
Lopez also truly enjoyed the opportunity.
"It's always an honor to be in an audience like this because I was once where you were," Lopez told the collegiate golfers in attendance at the special dinner before adding, "Always enjoy what you are doing because life is short.
"I appreciate Donna inviting me here and I want to thank (Director of Athletics) Janet R. Cone and the sponsors for giving these young women a place to play this great game because I think that is what it's all about. I've won a lot of trophies and a lot of money on the LPGA Tour, but friendship in golf has been more important and more rewarding to me than anything."
