FORT MYERS, Fla. – UNC Asheville men's tennis picked up a shutout win, 4-0, over Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

This was the third match the Bulldogs have played in the last three days, and it was the second match in less than 24 hours. The Bulldogs are now 12-2 on the season.

In doubles, Henry Patten and Olly Cull would pick up a 6-3 win at No. 1 to give the Bulldogs an early advantage. The Eagles would answer right back with a 6-3 win at No. 3 to tie things up.

The match at No. 2 would come down to the wire as Oli Nolan and Sirawit Daosaengsawang would eventually pull through with a 7-6 win to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start in singles and the Eagles had no answer. Leo Bierbaum picked up a big 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6. Daosaengsawang followed right behind with his own 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3. Henry Patten picked up his eighth singles win of the season by defeating Juan Montes at No. 1 to clinch the 4-0 win for the Bulldogs.

The matches at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 were left unfinished.

The Bulldogs will get a much needed day off tomorrow before they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. on Friday, March 15, to face Boston University in a neutral site matchup. Boston University is 4-8 on the season. They are 1-1 in neutral site matches. The Bulldogs and Terriers have had one common opponent this season in ECU. Boston University was shut out 7-0 by the Pirates while the Bulldogs picked up a 4-3 win over ECU.
