BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Senior guard Jessica Wall broke the UNC Asheville record for career made three-pointers (208), but the women's basketball team fell, 49-48, at Campbell with 0.2 seconds left in regulation on Saturday afternoon in Gore Arena.

BULLDOG BITES

Game Highlights

To open the road game, both teams found offense quickly, as both the Bulldogs and Camels combined for seven points in the opening two minutes of action. The two squads continued to battle back and forth, as UNC Asheville held a narrow two-point lead after 10 minutes of play (15-13).

Unlike the opening quarter, offense was hard to come by in the second stanza, as the two squads combined for only 15 points. The Camels outscored the Bulldogs by one, 8-7, but UNC Asheville still held the lead at the halftime break (22-21).

Nadiria Evans led both teams with eight points, as four of her points came from the free throw line. Wall added five points, as the senior tallied two made field goals. Brooke Jordan-Brown, who sat out last game, was a force on the boards, as the junior corralled seven rebounds in the opening half.

The two teams continued to battle in the third quarter, but Campbell again gained another point on the Bulldogs to tie the game at 37-all heading into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs held two 3-point advantages in the final quarter, including a 44-41 lead at the 2:30 mark. The Camels fought back again with 21 seconds, as Hayley Barber connected on a jumper to knot the game at 47-47. The Bulldogs held on for the last shot. Evans took the shot for Asheville but was fouled with one second remaining. The sophomore missed the first free throw but drilled the second to go up by one, 48-47. Campbell called timeout to advance the ball with limited time remaining. Campbell forced a pass under the basket, and a Camel scored the game-winning layup with 0.2 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs called a timeout to advance the ball, but Campbell knocked the pass away to claim the one-point win, 49-48.

Evans had a team-high 13 points, as seven of those came from the free throw line. Ali Trani nearly tallied double digits (nine), as she went 4-for-6 from the field. Wall and Zip Scott combined for 13 points and five field goals.

Jordan-Brown dominated the boards, as she corralled 12 rebounds. She also added four points in 18 minutes of play. Tiffany Wilson and Evonna McGill each tallied six rebounds.

UNC Asheville drops to 11-11 overall and 6-5 in league play, and Campbell moves to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in the Big South.
