Undefeated Bulldogs Down UNCG on the Road Saturday Afternoon

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's tennis defeated UNCG, 6-1, in a road match on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs are now a perfect 7-0 on the 2019 spring season.
The nationally-ranked No. 1 duo of Henry Patten and Oli Nolan remained undefeated by defeating Nico Grewe and Ollie Palmer, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles. Olly Cull and Leo Bierbaum won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point. The match at No. 3 was not finished.
In singles, it was Patten who would get the early victory at No. 1 by defeating Palmer 6-4, 6-0. UNCG would fight back and take the point at No. 2 singles to make the score 2-1.
The match at No. 2 would be the only match that UNCG would get as it would be all Bulldogs the rest of the way.
Charlie Morkel fought through three sets to get the victory at No. 3 singles. Cull at No. 4, Bierbaum at No. 5 and Quinn Fender at No. 6 would all sweep their matches for the final score of 6-1.
Next the Bulldogs will take a week off before returning home on Saturday, Feb. 23, to take on North Carolina Central at 3 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.   Â
