BULLDOG BITES
About UNC Asheville
After winning five straight games, UNC Asheville is now 10-9 on the year and 5-3 in Big South games. The Bulldogs have defeated Campbell, USC Upstate, High Point, Longwood and Presbyterian during that five-game stretch. Also UNC Asheville is an impressive 8-1 inside the friendly confines of Kimmel Arena.
In Asheville's impressive nine-point road win at Presbyterian (52-43), it was a true team effort for the Bulldogs, as they had four players score nine or more points. Jessica Wall led the Bulldogs with 11 points, as she connected on four field goals. Jimeshia Lawson finished with nine points, as seven points came in the first half. Brooke Jordan-Brown nearly tallied her first career double-double, but the center fell one point shy (nine points and 13 rebounds). Nadiria Evans was the final Bulldog with nine points or more, as the sophomore scored seven of her points in the final 20 minutes. Between Evans and Jordan-Brown, the duo went 8-for-11 from the field.
On the year, two Bulldogs are still averaging double figures - Sonora Dengokl and Wall. Wall, who has started 18 of the 19 games this year, is averaging 10.6 points per game, and the senior guard has scored double digits in three straight games and seven of the last nine contests.
Jordan-Brown has been impressive lately, as the junior has scored eight or more points in the last four games. She has also grabbed six or more rebounds in 10 games this year. Since Nov. 30, the Greenville, S.C. native has raised her rebounding average from 4.0 to 5.6 rebounds per game.
Lawson, who has started the last two games, has totaled 23 points in that stretch. She has also dished out five assists, totaled two steals, made nine free throws and corralled eight rebounds in her two starts.
