CHARLOTTE – Three UNC Asheville volleyball student-athletes earned postseason awards from the Big South Conference, the league announced, Wednesday.

Senior right side Julia Borges earned First-Team All-Big South honors, while senior outside hitter Ansley Rooks was named All-Big South Honorable Mention. Junior middle blocker Cecilia Stack earned recognition on the Big South All-Academic Team.

Borges led the Bulldogs in a number of categories during the season, including kills (26), solo blocks (18), total blocks (64) and points (316). Her 3.02 kills per set ranked fourth in the Big South and her 260 kills ranked sixth.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Borges put her versatility on display all season, as she was the only student-athlete this season to be named the Big South Player of the Week (November 4) and the Big South Defensive Player of the Week (September 16).

It is the second straight postseason honor for Borges, as she was named to the Second-Team after her performance a season ago.

Rooks earned the first conference postseason recognition of her standout Bulldog career, as she led the team with 32 service aces on the season, which ranked ninth in the Big South. Her 0.37 aces per set put her in a tie for fifth in the conference. She set the program single-match record with eight service aces at South Carolina State, October 22.

Rooks finished second on the team in kills (228), digs (257) and points (266.5). The Hickory, N.C. native closed out her regular season with career highs in kills (18) and digs (19) against Hampton to earn the first Big South Player of the Week award of her career.

In her career, Rooks has been named to the 2018 Big South All-Tournament Team and the 2017 Home2 Suites by Hilton Tallahassee Seminole Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Stack currently possesses a 3.64 grade-point average pursuing a degree in management. A native of Barrington, Ill., Stack is second on the team in solo blocks (12) and total blocks (60). She has 129 kills on a .278 hitting percentage, which ranks sixth in the Big South.

Borges, Rooks, Stack and the rest of the Bulldogs will return to the court, Friday, for a quarterfinal matchup against Presbyterian at the Big South Championship.
