Bulldogs to Compete at Big South Cross Country Championships Tomorrow

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – UNC Asheville cross country will take part in the Big South Cross Country Championships, Saturday, November 2. The meet will be hosted by Campbell in
Buies Creek, N.C. with the men's race beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the women's race at 11:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow at 12:30 p.m.
UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country finished fourth in the Big South Championships last season and both teams will be looking to improve upon that this year.
Last Time Out – High Point Vertcross Invitational
UNC Asheville's men's cross country team finished the High Point Vertcross Invitational with a seventh place overall finish.
There were 147 competitors in the men's race. Thomas Little was the highest finishing Bulldog with a 23rd place finish with a time of 26:04.4. Sage Turner was right on the heels of his teammate with a time of 26.13.8 and a 28th place finish.
Zach Boone secured a 42nd place finish with a time of 26:43.6, while James Clabo ran a time of 27:22.4.
Walker Lezotte and John Ciprich each finished under the 28-minute mark. Lezotte finished the event with a time of 27:54.2, while Ciprich ran a 27:59.1.
Tom Germann finished with a time 28:07.4 and Nathaniel Edwards secured a time of 28:30.1.
Cameron Eure, Jack Clemens and Brock Newsome rounded out the Bulldog finishers in the men's 8k event. Eure finished with a time of 29:23.8 while Clemens finished with a time of 29:52.5. Newsome ran a time of 30:33.0.
In the women's race, India Appleton paced the Bulldog women with a time of 24:23.92 while Madeline Nichols wasn't far behind her teammate with a time of 24:36.76.
Alyx Evans ran a time of 25:01.66 and Samantha Decker finished with a time of 25:52.75. Corey McVay and Morgan Costelloe rounded out the Bulldogs in the race with times of 26:30.87 and 27:18.80, respectively.
