Alsip, Evans Pace Bulldogs During First Round of NKU Fall Invitational

UNION, Ky. – Senior Kellen Alsip and sophomore Baylee Evans led the way for UNC Asheville's women's golf team during the first round of competition at the Northern Kentucky Fall Invitational, as both finished in the Top 15 after 18 holes of play, Monday, at Lassing Pointe Golf Club.
Both players completed their rounds with a 77 on the scorecard and are tied with three other players in 14th place on the individual leaderboard. Alsip birdied the 372-yard par 4 sixth hole, while Evans made a move on the seventh with a birdie on the 173-yard par 3.
Seniors Adelyn Deery and Linna Brooks finished as the Bulldogs' other two scorers, as both carded an 82 during the first round of action, which puts them in a tie for 29th among individuals. Brooks finished with two birdies on the day, scoring one on the sixth hole and made her second of the day on the 507-yard par 5 10th hole.
As a team, the Bulldogs posted a score of 318, which puts them alone in seventh place at the event. They are only four strokes behind sixth-place Northern Kentucky, but are 25 strokes clear of eighth-place Bellarmine University.
Final round action is set to begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, Tuesday. UNC Asheville will be paired up with Bellarmine and Eastern Illinois, and is set to tee off from holes 9-12. Live results for the final round will be available via Golfstat HERE.
