Oyos, Sloan and Kwiatkowski All Receive Postseason Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three members of UNC Asheville's women's soccer team have received recognition from the Big South for their work during the 2019 season. Sophomores Gillian Oyos and Grace Sloan were named honorable mention All-Conference while junior Grace Kwiatkowski was named to the Big South All-Academic team. The league made the official announcement, October 31, 2019.
Gillian Oyos was named an honorable mention as she led the Bulldogs with three goals and was tied for the lead with six total points in the 2019 season. The sophomore midfielder played in all 18 games making 17 starts. Oyos scored the game winning goal in all three of the Bulldogs' Big South Conference victories. Her three game-winning goals were third in the Big South during conference play.
Grace Sloan was named an honorable mention as she became a mainstay on the field for the Bulldogs this season. She saw action in all 18 games and started the final 17 games of the season. The sophomore defender played the second most minutes of any Bulldog with 1590 and helped anchor a defense that posted four shutouts this season.
Grace Kwiatkowski was a pillar in the Bulldog backfield this season making 17 starts. The junior captained a young Bulldog team from the centerback position. She played the third most minutes of any Bulldog and led a defense that secured four shutouts in the 2019 season. Kwiatkowski was named to the All-Academic team as she posted a 3.828 GPA as a Health and Wellness major. She is also pursuing a minor in Biology.
The Bulldogs closed their 2019 season with a 5-13 overall record and a record of 3-7 in Big South Conference matches. Their five wins were the most the Bulldogs have had in a season since 2017 and their 3 conference victories were the most that they have totaled since the 2016 season.
