Bulldogs Complete First Two Round of Terrier Intercollegiate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Asheville's women's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of competition at the Terrier Intercollegiate, Monday.
The Bulldogs shot a combined 639 over the first two rounds to stand in 14th place in the 16-team field, just one shot back of 13th-place Winthrop and 11 strokes clear of 15th-place Presbyterian.
Senior Kellen Alsip shot the low round for the Bulldogs during the first 18 holes, carding a 78 at the par-72 Carolina Country Club. She drained a birdie on the par-3 third hole to help finish the front nine at one-over-par.
Senior Linna Brooks was right behind her with a 79 in round one, finding birdie on the par-4 fourth hole.
The Bulldogs finished with a combined 321 on the first 18 holes, but shaved three strokes off their collective score in the second round to finish at 318.
Senior Adelyn Deery led the way, firing a round of 74 that featured three birdies, including two on the back nine where she finished even. Alsip scored a 79 in the second round to finish as the only Bulldog with two rounds in the 70s on the day. She too claimed two birdies on the back nine.
The third and final round of action will begin 9 a.m., Tuesday, with a shotgun start. The Bulldogs will be paired up with Big South Conference foes Winthrop and Presbyterian and will tee off from holes 13-16.
