SET-BY-SET
SET 1, PANTHERS WIN 27-25: The first set was a barn burner from the get-go, as neither team ever found a stranglehold on the match. Ansley Rooks and Molly Hackett led the way with six kills each in the first set. With the score tied at eight apiece, the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run – highlighted by two kills from Julia Borges – to force a Panthers' timeout with the score 12-8. The Panthers responded by scoring five of the next seven points, and the teams traded blows down the stretch. The Bulldogs had the first opportunity at set point, but a service error tied the match, 24-24. The Bulldogs retook the lead on a block from Borges and Lexy Cole, but the Panthers secured the next three points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
SET 2, PANTHERS WIN 25-18: The early part of the second set remained a close affair, as the largest lead for either team was three, as High Point led 11-8. From that point, the Bulldogs scored five of the next six points to take a 13-12 lead, with kills by Cole, Cecilia Stack and Molly Hackett, as well a service ace from Borges. However, the Panthers went on a 7-0 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Bulldogs scored five of the next seven to narrow the gap to 21-18, but the Panthers closed it out with a 4-0 run.
SET 3, PANTHERS WIN 25-22: The Bulldogs exploded out of the gate, scoring the first five points of the set that featured two Rooks service aces and a Molly Hackett kill. The Panthers responded, and from there, the set remained mostly close. The Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run to take a 19-15 lead. Again, High Point responded, narrowing Asheville's lead to 21-20, prompting a timeout from the visitors. The Panthers continued to put on the pressure, taking a 23-21 lead and forcing the Bulldogs into their second timeout. Though the Bulldogs were able to get one more point, the Panthers put things away to take the match.

FROM FREDERICO SANTOS
"The team played well from the start. We had good leads during the match but faltered in the decisive moments. We need to keep playing hard and seize opportunities. The team is working hard and focused on their objectives."
