NINETY SIX, S.C. – Senior Adelyn Deery picked up a pair of victories for UNC Asheville's women's golf team as it competed in the first two rounds of the Blue Hose Match Play, Monday.

Deery picked up the lone victory for the Bulldogs in the first round against Samford, taking down Sophie Membrino, 2-and-1, at the par-72, 6,175-yard layout of the Patriot Golf Club. Senior Kellen Alsip found herself in a tight matchup with Samford's Hallianne Hobson, but came up just short, two-and-one.

Samford advanced to the winner's bracket by a 4-1 score, and the Bulldogs moved to the consolation bracket against Longwood for the second round.

Again, Deery had another strong outing for the Bulldogs, defeating the Lancers' Jacky Nickels, three-and-two. Sophomore Baylee Evans picked up half a point for Asheville, as she played a neck-and-neck match against Longwood's Sirena Walsh and finished tied after 18 holes.

Alsip played another close round, but fell two-and-one to Grace Huffman, and Longwood took the second round matchup, 3.5-1.5.

The Bulldogs will face off against The Citadel in the final round of competition, set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The two teams will tee off from holes 15-18.
