ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Following a four-game road tilt, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Kimmel Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 8 to square off with first-year Big South Conference member Hampton at 7 p.m.

About UNC Asheville
 
UNC Asheville returns home with a 5-7 overall record and a 0-1 mark in league contests. The Bulldogs are undefeated inside Kimmel Arena (5-0), as they have defeated Western Carolina, Davidson, Wofford, Warren Wilson and ETSU at home.
 
In home games this year, UNC Asheville is averaging over 70 points per game (ppg), while only allowing 47 points per contest. As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting .419 percent (126-for-301) from the field and .342 percent (26-for-72) behind the three-point arc. Asheville is also dominating the boards, as it holds a plus-15 advantage in rebounds per game (46.4-31.4). The Bulldogs also sport a 0.8 assist to turnover ratio and average nearly nine steals per game at home.
 
Individually, three Bulldogs are averaging double figures at home – Sonora Dengokl, Jessica Wall and Nadiria Evans. Dengokl leads the team with 14.4 ppg, while Wall (13.5 ppg) and Evans (13.4 ppg) are right behind their teammate. Wall leads the team in three-pointers made at home, as she has connected with 17 three-pointers this year. The senior guard is shooting at a .515 clip (17-for-33) from the three-point arch. Evans has an impressive .511 field goal percentage, while Dengokl leads the team with total field goals made (29) inside Kimmel Arena. Jimeshia Lawson paces UNC Asheville with 4.8 rebounds per game at home, while four other Bulldogs are grabbing four boards or more per game – Juliet Esadah (4.6), Brooke Jordan-Brown (4.4), Ali Trani (4.2) and Zip Scott (4.0).
 
Scouting Hampton
 
Hampton travels to UNC Asheville with a 5-7 overall record and a 1-0 mark in Big South contests. The Pirates earned their first-ever Big South victory on the road, as they downed Charleston Southern, 74-66. The Pirates have played five straight games on the road and are 1-4 in those contests.
 
The Lady Pirates' offense is led by two players – Ashley Bates and Lauren Vanarsdale. Bates is averaging a team-best 17.4 ppg and is shooting at a .517 clip. Vanarsdale is right behind her teammate with 15.8 ppg, as she has connected with 4.75 field goals per game. Kaylah Lupoe has started in 11 of the 12 games this year and averages 8.5 ppg.
 
Lupoe is Hampton's leading rebounder with 6.5 boards per game. The 6-foot-2 forward is also averaging three blocks per game. Bates grabs 5.3 rebounds per contest, including a team-best 2.9 offensive rebounds per game.
 
All-Time History Versus the Pirates
 
Tuesday's contest will mark the second all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Lady Pirates. The first and only time the two clubs met was during the 1995-96 season in Hampton, Va., and the Pirates edged the Bulldogs by two points, 58-56.
