ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For the second straight season, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving program will send four Bulldogs to compete at the CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championships in Lawrence, Kan.

Last Year's CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championships Highlights
UNC Asheville sent out four swimmers last season to compete in the one-day event – Stephanie Smith, Adee Weller, Allie Snyder and Catherine Allen.
Allen paced the Bulldogs in the 5k event last year, as she earned a top-25 individual finish out of 53 swimmers. She swam a 1:08:37.55 time, which was only 29 seconds away from moving up five positions on the leaderboard.
Smith and Weller were neck-and-neck the entire race, as the duo finished three seconds apart. Smith clocked a 1:11:17.88, while Weller finished at 1:11:20.92.
Snyder wrapped up the times for Asheville with a 1:17:23.46.
As a team, UNC Asheville finished in eighth place out of 84 total points.
About the Meet
The Bulldogs will send four swimmers again this year. Two of them are already familiar with the layout and course – Weller and Allen. Also joining the Bulldog pair is senior Sydney VandenBerg and junior Skylar Rogan.
This is the third-straight year the event has been held at Lone Star Lake in Lawrence, Kan. The championship meet is hosted by Kansas.
The meet is a 5,000-meter race (3.1 miles) that will consist of a two-loop swim with the women's race beginning at 8:30 a.m. (central time) and the men's starting at the conclusion of the women's race.

There will be 71 swimmers competing in the national event, which is an increase of 18 individuals from last year's meet. Some participating schools include – Kansas, Missouri, CCSA foe North Florida, Rutgers, Texas Christian and Texas A&M.
