Women’s Soccer Entertains Delaware State and The Citadel in Home-Opening Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For its home-opening weekend, the UNC Asheville women's soccer team will entertain Delaware State on Aug. 31 and The Citadel on Sept. 2. Both contests will be held at Greenwood Field with kickoff slated for 4 p.m. versus the Hornets and a 2 p.m. kickoff versus the Bulldogs.

Friday Versus Delaware State: The women's game will be the first of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team facing USC Upstate at 6 p.m. for its home opener and Big South Conference opener.
Both games will be Freshman Night. UNC Asheville will recognize all freshmen from both squads as well as host promotional games for all UNC Asheville freshmen and students. All UNC Asheville students will receive free admission to the Friday Night Futbol doubleheader.
Also on Aug. 31, it will be Back to School Blues Night. All local elementary and middle school students, who also wear blue to the game, will receive free admission to both the UNC Asheville men's and women's contests.
Lastly, fans will receive a Bulldog Brigade cowbell upon admission, while supplies last.
Sunday Versus The Citadel: Youth soccer players, who wear a soccer jersey, will receive free admission to the afternoon contest. The battle between the two Bulldog teams will also be Family Funday Sunday.
At halftime, the UNC Asheville men's soccer team will face off against the first 100 kids in attendance to Sunday's game. The Bulldogs will send out their starting 11 to face 100 kids in a halftime scrimmage.
About UNC Asheville
The Bulldogs enter their home-opening weekend with a 0-2-1 record. UNC Asheville opened the year with a double overtime tie with Wofford but followed with back-to-back 1-0 losses to Western Carolina and North Florida on the road.
In its most recent contest at North Florida, sophomore goalkeeper Bryson Lee led the Bulldog squad, as she matched a single-game career-high mark in saves with seven. She faced 23 shots against the Ospreys and owns a team-best .875 save percentage.
On the year, Asheville has held its opposition to a 0.045 shot percentage, while the Bulldogs own a .100 shot percentage and a .300 shots on goal percentage.
Scouting Delaware State

Jade Jamison has the team's lone goal of the year, which was scored against Lafayette. She leads the squad in total shots (4) and shots on goal (3).
Leslie Fazio has played in goal in all four games for DSU. She has totaled 315 minutes between the posts, while corralling 21 total saves.
The head-to-head contest between the Bulldogs and Hornets is the first-ever matchup between the two clubs.
About The Citadel
The Citadel started its season red-hot by winning its first three games over Mississippi Valley State, North Florida and Francis Marion. The Bulldogs downed Mississippi Valley, 5-2, before edging the Ospreys and the Patriots by one goal. The Citadel split its next two games en route to a 4-1 overall record entering Sunday's game.
The Citadel has six players with a goal this year, including four with multiple goals. Katherine Arroyo leads the team with four goals. The redshirt junior netted a pair of goals versus Mississippi Valley and a lone goal versus North Florida and at Presbyterian.
Kessy Bradshaw and Logan Dixon are tied for second on the team in points (7), as both Bulldogs have each tallied three goals and an assist.
A graduate transfer from South Miss, Kelly Brahmbhatt has started all five contests in net, as she has totaled over 451 minutes. She has corralled 15 saves and sports a 1.80 goals against average.

The last time The Citadel traveled to Asheville was in 2015, and UNC Asheville downed The Citadel, 4-0. Current senior Justine James connected with a pair of goals, while former Bulldogs Paige Trent and Courtney Naber each tallied a goal. In that contest three years ago, Asheville out-shot The Citadel, 37-1.
