UNC Asheville Women’s Golf Releases 2018-19 Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – First-year UNC Asheville women's golf head golf Ericka Schneider announced the 2018-19 schedule, which includes 11 total events and the first-ever home event in March of 2019.
To kick off the fall portion of the 2018-19 schedule, the Bulldogs return to the Northern Kentucky Invitational to defend their tournament title that they won last year. At the 2017 NKU Fall Classic, UNC Asheville won the tournament crown with a 62-over 914 in the two-day tournament. The three-round score still stands as the program record.
A week later, the Bulldogs return to Greenville, N.C., as they will compete in the East Carolina Invitational. Last year Taylor Hinson led the Bulldogs in the highly-competitive field, as she finished in the top 25 as an individual.
To start the month of October, Asheville will compete in the two-day Austin Peay State Invitational. Last year at this tournament the Bulldogs tied for second as a team, and five Bulldogs placed in the top 15. Adelyn Deery paced Asheville, as she tied for 8th at 15-over 231.
From Oct. 15-16, UNC Asheville will play in the lone match play tournament of the season – the Presbyterian Match Play. The two-day tournament will be held at the Big South Championship location – The Patriot at Grand Harbor.
To conclude the fall portion of the schedule, the Bulldogs travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to compete in the Wofford Invitational.
After a four-month break, the Bulldogs open the spring season at the highly-competitive Kiawah Island Classic from Feb. 25-26. UNC Asheville competed in this tournament in its first year of existence.
In the middle of March, UNC Asheville travels to Dade City, Fla. to compete in the WKU/FGCU Spring Break Shootout. This is the Bulldogs lone trip to the Sunshine State of the 2018-19 season.
A week later, UNC Asheville travels to the Briar's Creek Invitational, which is held at the Briar's Creek Golf Course in Johns Island, S.C. Hinson paced the Bulldogs last year at this tournament, as she improved 10 spots on the final day to finish tied for 20th.
For the first time in the program's history, the Bulldogs will host their first-ever UNC Asheville Invitational from March 25-26 at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove. More information on the two-day tournament will be released when made available.
To wrap up the regular season, the Bulldogs return to Morganton, N.C. to compete in the Appalachian State Invitational from April 7-8. Last year the Bulldogs broke several records at this tournament, including the team's first-ever sub-300 round score and the first-ever sub-par round scores from Hinson and Deery (1-under 71).
To conclude the season, UNC Asheville travels to Ninety Six, S.C. to compete at the Big South Championship. At last year's championship, the Bulldogs finished tied for 5th, while Hinson and Deery each placed in the top 16.
