2018 UNC Asheville Women's Soccer Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's soccer first-year head coach Lindsay Vera revealed the 2018 schedule on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

The schedule features 18 contests with 10 being held at the friendly confines of Greenwood Field.

"Overall, I'm happy with our 2018 schedule," said Vera. "I think it's a good balance for what we're focused on. It will allow us to maintain the progress made in the spring, while giving the new players and team as a whole a chance to play and be comfortable from the start."

Prior to opening regular-season play, the Bulldogs will host a preseason scrimmage versus Queens University on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.

To open the regular season, UNC Asheville will play three straight games on the road, beginning with Wofford on Aug. 17 in Spartanburg, S.C. Two days later, the Bulldogs will square off with non-conference rival Western Carolina on Aug. 19 in Cullowhee, N.C. To conclude the three-game road stretch, Asheville will travel to the Sunshine State to square off with North Florida on Aug. 26 in Jacksonville, Fla.

The regular-season home opener for the squad is slated for Aug. 31 against Delaware State. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Greenwood Field.

To open the month of September, UNC Asheville hosts a pair of Southern Conference members – The Citadel and VMI. The Citadel travels to Greenwood Field on Sunday, Sept. 2 for a 2 p.m. kickoff, and the Keydets come to Asheville on Friday, Sept. 7 for a 6 p.m. start.

To conclude the four-game home slate, UNC Asheville will entertain South Carolina State on Sept. 10.

The Bulldogs' Big South Conference schedule starts on the road, as they travel to Longwood on Sept. 19.

UNC Asheville's conference home opener is scheduled for Sept. 22 versus Campbell. Start time is slated for 4 p.m.

After back-to-back road conference matches versus Presbyterian and Charleston Southern, the Bulldogs return to Greenwood Field on Wednesday, Nov. 3 to square off versus Gardner-Webb.

Following a weekend road trip to High Point on Oct. 6, UNC Asheville will conclude its regular season by hosting three of its final four games at Greenwood Field. Winthrop comes to Asheville on Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. to face the Bulldogs. Three days later, newly welcomed conference member Hampton travels to Greenwood Field for a 4 p.m. kickoff.

For its final road game of the year, Asheville travels to Spartanburg to face the second newly welcomed school to the Big South – USC Upstate. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct. 17.

The final contest of the regular season will be held at Greenwood Field, as the Bulldogs entertain Radford on Oct. 20. The finale is set to start at 5 p.m.

"To say we're excited about the fall would be an understatement," Vera said. "I'm personally looking forward to the challenge of my first season here at UNC Asheville. Even more importantly, I know the staff and our players feel the same energy and drive to improve themselves too. Things are coming together quickly, and I'm confident we'll be ready in August."
