CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Highlighted by placing four runners in the top-4 positions in the men's 1500m, the UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams concluded competition at the Johnson C. Smith University Invitational on Saturday.
Meet Highlights
The highlight of the second day was the men's 1500m. Four UNC Asheville runners swept the top-4 spots. David Hager claimed the top spot with a 4:03.29. Quin Meyer followed with a 4:06.19, and Thomas Little placed third with a 4:11.72 time. Graham Parker rounded out the top-4 spots in the event, as he posted a 4:13.99. The time for Parker, a sophomore, marked a career best.
After winning the triple jump yesterday, Nadiria Evans finished runner-up in the women's long jump. She made a leap of 5.31m, which was only 0.04m away from matching the first-place finisher. The jump for the freshman marks the fourth-longest leap in program history. Asia Washington finished one spot behind her teammate, as the freshman posted a 5.16m jump.
Megan Brewer also had a solid outing on Saturday, as the junior finished runner-up in the women's 1500m. The Columbus, Ohio native clocked a 5:04.96 time. Kelley Petroski finished in the top 10 in the same event. The junior posted a 5:41.95 time, which placed her 10th in the 1500m.
Tyree McFalling had a strong finish in the men's 400m. The sophomore sprinter clocked a 49.90. The time was only 0.19 seconds off from matching a personal best.
What's Next?
After four straight weekends of competition, both teams will take a weekend off. The men's and women's teams return to action on April 20, as the two squads will gear up for the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
