Hinson and Brooks Earn Big South Postseason Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Taylor Hinson and sophomore Linna Brooks earned Big South Conference postseason awards on Saturday, as Hinson was named to the All-Freshman Team and Brooks was named to the All-Academic Team.

As the lone rookie on the 2018 Bulldog roster, Hinson led the Bulldogs with a 76.36 scoring average. Hinson was one of the two Bulldogs to record the first-ever sub-par round score, which was a 1-under 71 at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. The Belmont, N.C. native capped off her first collegiate season by finishing 11th at the 2018 Big South Championship in Ninety Six, S.C. 

Brooks is one of nine golfers to be named to the All-Academic Team. The sophomore holds a 3.884 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) as a double-major in Economics and Mathematics along with a minor in computer science. She has been a member of the Dean's List every semester and was a member of the 2016-17 Big South Presidential Honor Roll. Also as a member of the Honors Program at UNC Asheville, she has never held a semester GPA lower than 3.85.

Annelie Sjoholm of Campbell was named the Golfer of the Year, and Isabell Ekstrom of Campbell was tabbed the Freshman of the Year. Celia Mansour of Presbyterian garnered the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
