Hinson, Black Tied for 11th; Bulldogs Tied for 9th After First Round of Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate

MORGANTON, N.C. – Sophomore Becca Black and freshman Taylor Hinson paced the UNC Asheville women's golf team on Friday, as the duo are tied for 11th individually after the first 18 holes at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.

In the opening round, Black and Hinson paced the Bulldogs, as the duo is tied for 11th individually. They each carded a 2-over 74 in the opening round of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. The pair combined for three birdies on Sunday.
The 2-over round for Black was her best round since the third round of the Bradley Spring Invitational, where she posted a 2-under 70. Hinson has now recorded four straight rounds where she has posted a 74 or lower.
Linna Brooks had the third-best round for Asheville, as she carded a 7-over 79. With the round, she currently sits tied for 41st. The opening round score for the sophomore matched her third-best score of the season.
Adelyn Deery rounded out the team's top-4 rounds, as the sophomore sits tied for 56th at 8-over 80.
As a team, the Bulldogs are tied for 9th with 23-over 311, and they are currently tied with Longwood.
As a team, Wofford leads the 16-team field, as the Terriers have a 7-over 295. Troy and Elon are right behind the Terriers, as both teams are 9-over 297.
Nicole Chin of Wofford currently leads the 89-person field with a 3-under 69. Hilda Kristjansdottir of Elon, Sarah Harrison of Troy and Maiken Bing Paulsen of Presbyterian are in a three-way tie for second, as they each inked an even-par 72 on Sunday.

The final 18 holes for the Bulldogs begins on Monday, April 2, at the Mimosa Hills Golf Course at 9 a.m. UNC Asheville is paired with USCB and host-school Appalachian State.
