UNC Asheville Opens Competition at the Florida Relays on Thursday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams return to competition on Thursday, March 29, as the Bulldogs head to the three-day Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla.
Last Time Out
Seven Bulldogs posted 10-top finishes at the Weems Baskin Invitational last weekend in Columbia, S.C.
Both 4 x 800m relay teams had strong showings, as both squads finished fourth in their respective event.
Kamyrn DeCarmo had a strong result in the women's 1500m, as she placed seventh with a 4:48.08. Kelley Coleman and Phoebe Schneider each finished in the top 15, as they placed 13th and 14th, respectively.
David Hager clocked a strong time in the men's 1500, as he finished ninth with a 4:05.62.
Kayli Nichols also had a top-10 showing, as the senior finished ninth in the women's 400m hurdles.
Thomas Little, Blanton Gillespie and Sage Turner all turned out strong results in the men's 3000m. Little finished just outside of the top 10 with an 8:46.71 time. Gillespie finished 12th with an 8:52.94, and Turner rounded out the top-20 finishes for Asheville with an 8:54.63 time.
About The Meet
The Florida Relays is a three-day meet that is hosted by the University of Florida. All events are held at the Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Fla.
The first event of the meet will be the women's 200m, which will commence at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The first field event will be the men's hammer throw, which starts at 5 p.m.
The final day of the three-day meet kicks off at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the men's discus, and the final event of the meet will be the men's 4 x 400m relay at 6:50 p.m.
