Last weekend at Mercer, six Bulldogs posted at least three hits during the three-game series. Leading the surge was sophomore Joe Gruszka, who tallied five hits. Carmine Pagano was right behind him, as he tacked on four hits. Of those four hits for the junior, two of those went for extra-bases. Sophomore Kole Harris also collected four singles and a RBI. Brandon Lankford and Tyler Serricchio paced the squad, as each recorded a pair of RBIs. Chris Troost, Jake Catalano, Pagano and Lankford combined for the five Bulldog doubles in the three-game set.
Jordan Carr had success on the bump for UNC Asheville, as the redshirt sophomore started the third game of the series versus the Bears. The Pasadena, Md. native twirled five innings. He scattered five hits and struck out three batters. Out of the bullpen, Nick Boyles had a successful outing, where he didn't allow a run and struck out one in one inning of work.
Scouting the Seminoles
Florida State enters the three-game series with an unblemished 8-0 record, including a 7-0 mark at home. Inside the confines of Dick Howser Stadium, the Seminoles have defeated Xavier, USF and Troy this year.
The Seminole offense is hitting .264. Leading the offensive surge is senior outfielder Steven Wells with a .429 clip. J.C. Flowers and Drew Mendoza are right behind their teammate, as all three are hitting .310 or higher. In the eight contests this year, Wells and Flowers have combined for seven doubles and 11 RBIs. Mike Salvatore and Rafael Bournigal pace FSU with a pair of steals each.
