Evans’ Career Day Leads Bulldogs at Terrier Intercollegiate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman Baylee Evans carded a career-best round on Monday (2-over 74), as the Lancaster, S.C. native led the UNC Asheville women's golf team at the Terrier Intercollegiate.

Highlights

Evans shot low on the first day of the outing, as she carded a career-best 2-over 74 round. Evans sank four birdies, including three on the back nine.

Taylor Hinson had the second-best round for the Bulldogs on Monday, as she carded a 7-over 79. She etched 11 pars and a birdie on the opening day of the tournament.

Kellen Alsip and Adelyn Deery rounded out the top-4 finishes for the Bulldogs, as they each shot an 11-over 83.

UNC Asheville is in a two-way tie for 10th out of 16 teams. The Bulldogs inked a 31-over 319 at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

Big South rival High Point leads the field at 9-over 297. Georgia Southern, USC Upstate, Appalachian State and Winthrop are nipping at the Panthers' heels, as all four teams are within seven strokes of HPU.

Becca Early of Wofford leads the 90-person field at 1-under 71. Chelsea Dantonio of Winthrop and Ansley Bowman of Georgia Southern are tied for second at even-par 72.

What's Next?

The Bulldogs will conclude the final 18 holes at the Terrier Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The final round will be a shotgun start and will commence at 9:30 a.m.
