Hinson Paces Women’s Golf at F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.
– After the first two rounds of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, sophomore Taylor Hinson paces the UNC Asheville women's golf team, as she is tied for 11th on Monday.

Highlights

Hinson leads the Bulldogs after the first two rounds at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. She is currently tied for 11th with four other golfers at 9-over 153. Hinson opened the first day of the two-day tournament with a 5-over 77, and she capped off the opening day with a 4-over 76. In the first 36 holes of play, the Belmont, N.C. native sank four birdies and 21 pars.

Playing out of the No. 1 slot for the first time this year for the Bulldogs, Kellen Alsip currently has the second-best individual position for UNC Asheville (tied for 36th). After an 11-over 83 opening round, she made a five-shot improvement into the second round (6-over 78). In that second round, she sank a birdie and 11 pars. 

Adelyn Deery rounded out the top-3 placements for UNC Asheville on Monday. The Lancaster, Pa. native is currently tied for 38th at 18-over 162 (83-79).

As a team, Asheville is ninth. The Bulldogs are 70-over 646 (327-319). The eight-shot improvement from the first to second round was the second-best improvement of the season. UNC Asheville made a 15-shot improvement in the season opener at the NKU Fall Classic.

The University of Louisiana Monroe currently leads the field at 23-over 599 (300-299). Big South foe Radford is in sixth, as the Highlanders hold an 11-shot advantage on the Bulldogs.

Jahaanvie Walia of ULM is leading the 68-person field at 1-under 143 (71-72). She holds a four-shot lead on Linette Holmslykke of Murray State. 

What's Next?

UNC Asheville will conclude play at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate on Oct. 2. All 11 teams will tee off at 9:30 a.m. at the Clarksville Country Club. 

The Bulldogs are paired with Radford and host Austin Peay State to finish play at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.
