Bulldogs Put Together Strong Day in Doubles to Kick Off Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – It was strong first day at the Davidson Invitational for UNC Asheville men's tennis.

In UNC Asheville's match with Queens, the Bulldog No. 1 duo of Henry Patten and Olly Cull secured a 6-2 win over Sebastian Meum and Joel Dunlap. At No. 2 doubles, UNC Asheville's duo of Reese Daly and Oli Nolan bested Queens' Eugeno Zanasi and Alvaro De La Osa, 7-5. UNC Asheville's Finlay Ray McFayden and Andrew Sinai collected a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles over Queens' Jordan Owens and Kasper Rolfsen.

Patten and Cull also secured wins at No. 1 doubles against Gardner-Webb's Jordan Fors and Paul Hogan. At No. 2 doubles, Daly and Nolan picked up the win as well over Gardner-Webb's No. 2 duo of Anthony Brennan and Stefano Puga.

Patten and Cull made it a clean sweep on the day with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over the Camels' Lukas Schaefer and Dustin Werner.

The first day of action at the Davidson Invitational was focused on doubles. The Davidson Invitational features the host Wildcats along with USC Upstate, Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Queens and UNC Asheville.

Saturday's singles play begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. with the last singles match starting at that point in time. The invitational wraps up on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. and concluding with a final doubles match at 1 p.m. The invite itself will be a flighted individual format with eight singles flights and four doubles flights.
