Bulldogs to Compete at Davidson Invitational This Upcoming Weekend

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team will continue their fall campaign this upcoming weekend by competing in the Davidson Invitational, Sept. 29-Oct. 1, on the hard courts at the Davidson Tennis Courts.

The Davidson Invitational will feature the host Wildcats along with USC Upstate, Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Queens and UNC Asheville.

According to Davidson, the event will be a points system with points being determined based on position. The No. 1 singles position is worth 16 points and going two points down at each position to No. 8, which is worth two points. The top doubles spot is worth eight points, then going down to No. 4, which is worth two.

Play begins Friday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m. with doubles being played. Saturday's play begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. with the last singles match starting at that point in time. The invitational wraps up on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. and concluding with a final doubles match at 1 p.m. The invite itself will be a flighted individual format with eight singles flights and four doubles flights.

This weekend marks the third weekend of the fall for the Bulldogs. UNC Asheville has had a really strong fall as a team so far with strong performances as a whole at the USC Upstate Invitational and the Elon Fall Invitational.

In addition, reigning Big South Player of the Year Henry Patten earlier this month garnered top honors as the prestigious Southern Intercollegiate Championships. Last weekend, Patten put together another solid weekend at the Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational.
