Bulldog Men’s Tennis Picks Up Some Solid Wins on Friday

Updated Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational Draw
ELON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team opened their competition at both the Elon Fall Invitational and the Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational on Friday, Sept. 22.
At the Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational, UNC Asheville's Henry Patten narrowly fell 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) to Jason Kros of Virginia Tech.
Patten will now next take on Penn's Kyle Mautner at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
At the Elon Fall Invitational in the Phoenix singles division, UNC Asheville's Andrew Sinai bested Nico Grewe of UNCG, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2. Sinai will challenge Louis Rico of Elon in the next round at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
In the Powell singles bracket, UNC Asheville's Finlay Ray McFayden picked up a 7-5, 6-3 win over Winthrop's Rhys Jones. McFayden will now take on Charlotte's Easton Thomas at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Also in the Powell bracket, UNC Asheville's Edward Colclough fell 6-3, 7-5 to Josh Ryan of Winthrop. Colclough will next face Taylor Foote of Elon at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
UNC Asheville's Oli Nolan dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Furman's Cameron Green in the Maroon singles division. Nolan will now next challenge Freddie McGeehan of East Carolina at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
In the Gold singles portion of the Elon Fall Invitational, UNC Asheville's Olly Cull fell 6-2, 6-1 to Camilo Ponce of host Elon. Cull will now battle Lawrence Perrin of Coastal Carolina at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
UNC Asheville's Reese Daly is competing in the White singles bracket at the Elon Fall Invitational and he will take on Pablo Juez Torres of North Carolina Central at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
In the Gold doubles division at the Elon Fall Invitational, the duo of Nolan and Cull started the day by besting Palmer and Burkill of UNCG, 8-5. The duo then narrowly fell, 8-7, to Mitrick and Munns of Furman.
In the Phoenix doubles portion of the fall tournament, UNC Asheville's Sinai and McFadyen fell, 8-1, to Anghel and Georgi of East Carolina. Later the same day, the duo also narrowly fell 8-7 to Khan and Ramirez of Charlotte.
In the Powell doubles section, Daly and Coclough of UNC Asheville dropped their match with Pelletier and Rabideau of Clemson, 8-2. They then bested Melnik and Whisnant of UNCG, 8-6, to set up a meeting with Arduh and Bartra of North Carolina A&T on Saturday.
