CHARLOTTE, N.C. – True freshman Taylor Hinson was tabbed the Big South Women's Golfer of the Week after she guided the UNC Asheville women's golf team to a team victory at the NKU Fall Classic where she finished third individually and tied a program record for lowest round score (72).The Belmont, N.C. native guided the Bulldogs to their second-ever team victory as UNC Asheville carded a 62-over 914, which was the best three-round score in history. In the second round, Asheville shot a 17-over 301, which marked the lowest team round score in the program. The previous team round low was 304, which happened twice last year at the Preview at the Patriot and the Big South Women's Championship.
Hinson finished in third place individually, which earned her All-Tournament honors at the NKU Fall Classic. She was two strokes behind the individual champion as she carded an 11-over 224 (76-76-72) in the two-day tournament. The third round score of 1-over 72 matched the lowest round score in program history that Becca Black set last year at the Big South Women's Championship. Also, the 1-over 72 was tied for the second-lowest round score at the entire NKU Fall Classic.
After her first collegiate tournament, Hinson leads the team in scoring average at 74.67.
Hinson and the Bulldogs will return to the links on Sept. 25 as UNC Asheville travels to Greenville, N.C. to compete in the Pirate Collegiate Classic.
