Bulldogs Sit Atop Leaderboard After First Two Rounds at NKU Fall Classic

BATAVIA, Ohio – After playing 36 holes at the Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio, the UNC Asheville women's golf team sits atop of the team leaderboard on Monday with a 38-over 606 team score as the Bulldogs recorded their lowest team round score in program history (301).

First and Second Round Highlights
The Bulldogs recorded a 304 team round score twice in their first season (the Preview at the Patriot and the Big South Women's Championship), but in the first tournament of its sophomore season, Asheville bested the program team round record by inking a 301 in the second round on Monday.
UNC Asheville leads the 14-team tournament by one stroke over Dayton, who was tied with Asheville after the first round. Oakland, who led after the first round at 17-over 301, slipped into fourth place after shooting a 29-over 313 in the second round. Austin Peay State University sits in third to round out the top 4 teams at the NKU Fall Classic.
Leading the Bulldogs is sophomore, Adelyn Deery. The Lancaster, Pa. native is tied for 5th at 8-over 150. She carded the same score in back-to-back rounds on Monday (4-over 75), as she is in a tie for fifth with Gypsie Hutchinson of Morehead State.
Right behind her is UNC Asheville rookie Taylor Hinson, who is tied for 10th individually at 10-over 152. In Hinson's collegiate debut, she penciled two 5-over 76 scores, which puts her in a three-way tie at the NKU Fall Classic.
Joining Deery and Hinson in the top 15 individually is sophomore Janie Thomas (tied for 13th). Thomas sits at 11-over 153 after she posted a three-stroke improvement in the second round (4-over 75).
Just outside of the top 15 is Kellen Alsip as she is tied for 16th at 12-over 154.
Ellie Cronin of Dayton leads the individual leaderboard at 3-over 145, and Lillian Young of Northern Kentucky, who is in second place, is right behind her at 6-over 148.
Final Round Information
Holding a one-stroke lead, the Bulldogs will begin the final 18 holes at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start at the Elks Run Golf Club. UNC Asheville will be paired with Dayton, Austin Peay and Oakland to conclude the final day in Batavia, Ohio. The four teams will start on holes 1a-3b.
