INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – UNC Asheville junior tennis standout Henry Patten had his tremendous fall campaign come to a close in the Men's Singles Consolation Quarterfinals at the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

Patten opened up his efforts on Friday, Nov. 3, by besting Ewan Moore of Tulane 6-4, 6-2 in the Round of 16. It was Patten's second straight win over a top-80 player as Moore is currently ranked 77th in the country.

National No. 51 Alex Knight of Michigan ended Patten's tremendous fall campaign with a 6-2, 6-3 win over the reigning Big South Player of the Year in the Quarterfinals.

One day earlier, Patten picked up his second top-30 win of the fall of 2017 in his Men's Singles Consolation First Round match at the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa.

The ITA Carolina Regional champion Patten bested national No. 25 Daniel Valent of Vanderbilt in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.

Valent like Patten earned an automatic bid to the championships by winning his region in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.

Patten's first win of the 2017 fall campaign against a top-30 player came by downing Emil Reinberg of Georgia 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in the semifinals. Reinberg is presently ranked 30th.

The semifinal win over Reinberg at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships allowed Patten to finish the oldest fall college tennis tournament as the champion.

At the Wake Forest Invitational, UNC Asheville's duo of Olly Cull and James Massie bested NC State's Malyshev and Shick 7-6 (4). The tandem will take on Duke's duo of Furman and Stachowiak in the A3 doubles semifinals at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

In the B1 doubles section of the event, UNC Asheville's Reese Daly and Edward Colclough downed the Wake Forest tandem of Soloman and Hannity, 6-2. Daly and Colclough will next take on Radford's Varga and Sala in the semifinals on Saturday.
