UNC Asheville Volleyball Closes Out Impressive Weekend With Second Consecutive Sweep

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – It's been a weekend to remember for UNC Asheville volleyball.
The Bulldogs remained undefeated on the year at home with a dominating 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-13) win over Big South Conference foe Charleston Southern on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Justice Center.
UNC Asheville (8-9, 4-2 Big South Conference) finished its win hitting .278 as a team. The Bulldogs limited Charleston Southern (7-13, 2-4 Big South Conference) to just .023 hitting as a team in the match.
The Bulldogs were led in its win over the Buccaneers by Cara Guthrie's 15 kills. She also had six digs and a service ace.
Freshman outside hitter KK Haley packed the stat sheet in the Bulldog win over Charleston Southern with seven kills, five service aces, four digs, one block and one assist.
Sophomore setter Kailey Hackett led the Bulldogs in the win over Charleston Southern with 17 assists. Junior defensive specialist Madisen Zyburt led the Bulldogs in digs in the match with 12.
Freshman middle blocker Cecilia Stack had three solo blocks in the win over the Buccaneers.
Kylie Klein led Charleston Southern with eight kills.

UNC Asheville volleyball has started the 2017 season a perfect 5-0 at home with wins over Montreat, Gardner-Webb, Campbell, Winthrop and Charleston Southern. UNC Asheville volleyball is 4-0 at home in league play for the first time since 2013. The Bulldogs overall in their five home matches so far have only dropped two sets (15-2).
Killing It
Cara Guthrie after her 15 kills in the win over Charleston Southern now has over 750 kills in her career with 754.
A Great Birthday Present
The sweep of Charleston Southern provided the Bulldogs the opportunity to give head coach Frederico Santos a great birthday gift on Saturday.
