Bulldogs Collect Great Road Win at Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Behind 26 digs and 23 kills from Cara Guthrie the UNC Asheville volleyball team picked up a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16) road win over Charleston Southern.
After dropping the first set, UNC Asheville (10-13, 6-6 Big South Conference) bounced back to win the next three sets to claim the overall match victory. The Bulldogs hit .300 as a team in set two.
The 23 kills by Guthrie are a UNC Asheville single-match high in the 2017 season. Her 26 digs were also a season-best and career-best for Guthrie.
Teammate Madisen Zyburt finished with one more dig than Guthrie at 27 to collect the single-match high for the Bulldogs in the 2017 season thus far.
In total, four Bulldogs finished the match with double-digit digs with Ansley Rooks ending the match with 14 digs and KK Haley ending her night with 13 digs.
Ava Venema was the only other Bulldog to finish the match with double-digit kills with 11.
In the top-15 in the country for service aces, the Bulldogs ended the match with eight overall with Haley leading the way with four. Guthrie had two.
Venema led the Bulldogs in blocks with five. Cecilia Stack ended her evening with three blocks.
Kailey Hackett led the Bulldogs with 23 assists, while Carter Kennedy concluded the match with 20.
Brooke Monssen led Charleston Southern (8-18, 3-9 Big South Conference) in its loss to the Bulldogs with 14 kills.
