Bulldogs Drop Match to Radford on Saturday at Justice Center

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville volleyball dropped its match to Radford on Saturday afternoon at the Justice Center, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-15).
The Bulldogs (9-13, 5-6 Big South Conference) looked to be marching to a win in the first set with Asheville up 23-22 in the latter part of the game, but Radford (18-3, 8-2 Big South Conference) scored the final three points in the set to take a narrow 25-23 win.
The Highlanders from there would go on to take the next two sets to garner the overall match victory.
Two Bulldogs finished the match with double-digit digs with Ansley Rooks leading the way with 12 digs. Madisen Zyburt was just behind her with 11 digs.
Cara Guthrie and KK Haley tied for top honors in overall kills with eight with Guthrie also securing seven digs and five service aces. The Bulldogs as a team finished the match with six service aces with Julia Loveday also collecting an ace.
Kailey Hackett led the Bulldogs in assists with 11, while Carter Kennedy was right behind with 10 assists.
Maddie Palmer led Radford with 19 kills, while Valerie Gonzalez had 15 kills and 10 digs for the Highlanders.
BULLDOG BITES
Over 700/800
Cara Guthrie's eight kills in the match with High Point on Friday, Oct. 20, allowed her to surpass 800 kills in her career. After the Radford match, she now has 815. In the Radford match, Guthrie's seven digs allowed her to surpass 700 in the category as she now has 703 in her career.

UNC Asheville will next travel to the Palmetto State for two matches with the Bulldogs first taking on Charleston Southern in Charleston, S.C. at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. One day later, UNC Asheville will face off against Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.
