Bulldogs Look to Continue Strong Fall This Weekend at Spartan Fall Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team will continue their fall season this weekend at the Spartan Fall Invitational.
The event that will run Friday, Oct. 20-Sunday, Oct. 22, will be held at the UNCG Tennis Courts. Doubles play will get underway at 9 a.m. on Friday with singles to follow.

Patten Takes Title at ITA Carolina Regional
Henry Patten claimed top honors at the ITA Carolina Regional recently.
In the finals, the regionally eighth-seeded Patten bested 15th-seeded Alex Favrot of Clemson, 6-3, 6-1. Favrot played mainly at No. 1 singles last year for the Tigers, ending the regular season 16-9. He is currently ranked 107th in the country, and was ranked as high as 90th last season.
The regionally eighth-seeded Patten advanced to the ITA Carolina Regional final by besting 25th-seeded Simon Baudry of Clemson in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-2.
In winning the title at the ITA Carolina Regional, Patten bested players from Elon, NC State, UNCW, Coastal Carolina and Clemson.
The ITA Carolina Regional championship was the second title of the fall for Patten. Earlier this fall in the oldest fall college tennis tournament in the nation it was Patten that was declared champion. Patten was actually declared co-champion in the event along with Tim Sandkaulen of Ole Miss. The two were supposed to meet up in the final, but due to the forecasted weather in the area from Hurricane Irma it was decided to declare co-champions.
In being declared co-champion at the prestigious event, Patten bested the second, fifth, 14th and 15th seeds at the Southern Intercollegiate.
Strong Fall So Far
It has been a really strong fall for UNC Asheville men's tennis. In addition to Patten's two titles, the Bulldogs have also put together strong performances at the USC Upstate Invitational, the Elon Fall Invitational and Davidson Invite.
