CARY, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's tennis standout Henry Patten advanced to the round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Carolina ITA Regional at the Cary Tennis Park with a win on Saturday.
The eighth-seeded Patten advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-1, 7-5 win over UNCW's Daniel Groom.
The round of 16 and the quarterfinals will be played on Sunday, Oct. 15. The reigning Big South Player of the Year will look to advance to the quarterfinals in his round of 16 matchup against Luis Faria of Coastal Carolina at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
In doubles action on Saturday, Patten and Oli Nolan narrowly fell to NC State's Georgiy Malshev and Collin Schick 5-7, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (7).
