Patten Advances to Third Round of ITA Carolina Regional With Two Wins Friday

CARY, N.C. – Henry Patten kept adding to his elite fall during the first day of the USTA/ITA Carolina ITA Regional at the Cary Tennis Park.

The eighth-seeded Patten opened up his day on Friday by besting Elon's Neal Port 6-2, 6-3 in the first round before downing NC State's Morgan Lohan 6-2, 6-2 to move into the third round of the regional on Saturday.

Patten will take on UNCW's Daniel Groom in the third round at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.

UNC Asheville's Oli Nolan advanced to the second round of the regional on Friday with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 win over Gardner-Webb's Paul Hogan. Nolan bowed out of the regional in the second round with a 6-0, 6-3 loss to UNCG's No. 1 and regional 17th-seeded Connor Thompson.

Nolan and Patten are the ninth seed in the doubles portion of the regional that gets underway on Saturday. The Bulldog duo will face NC State's Georgiy Malshev and Collin Schick at 3 p.m.
