Unbeaten Bulldog Men's Tennis Hits Road for First Time in 2017

ASHEVILLE, N.C.— The UNC Asheville men's tennis team will travel to Greenville, N.C. for a weekend of tennis hosted by East Carolina University. The Bulldogs will first play Mount Olive on Saturday, Jan. 28, followed by ECU on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the ECU Indoor Tennis Facility.
BULLDOG BITES
PRESEASON PICKS:Â Asheville was picked sixth overall in the 2017 Big South Conference Men's Tennis Preseason Poll. The Bulldogs finished the 2016 regular-season with an overall 11-8 record and eventually fell to the No. 2 seeded Liberty Flames in the semi-finals of the Big South Conference Tournament.
YOUNG FACES:Â Coming into the 2017 season, Asheville's roster is filled with underclassmen. The Bulldogs have three freshmen in Edward Colclough, James Massie and Majed Yousef. The roster also holds three sophomores in Olly Cull, Henry Patten and Andrew Sinai. The team will rely on the experience of its two seniors, Reid Dillon and Josh Swindler, to provide leadership this season.
CLEAN SWEEPS: The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend in which they swept both Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne, 7-0. In addition to the nearly perfect doubles play, not one set was dropped by a Bulldog in singles play as the team got off to a strong start to the season.
UP NEXT: Following play on Sunday, the Bulldogs will return home for a five-match homestand beginning with Appalachian State on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Asheville Racquet Club at 3 p.m.
