UNC Asheville Athletics Receives Two Leadership Gifts for On-Campus Tennis Facility

04.01.2026 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Athletic Department has received two leadership gifts in support of its on-campus tennis facility, which is scheduled to begin construction mid-May 2026.

The gifts will fund naming opportunities for two courts, with one designated as the David and Traci Meyer Family Court and the other as the Zac Fligel Court.

"We believe deeply in multiplying our blessings for the next generation. Traci and I are grateful to know the UNC Asheville coaches and student‑athletes and to witness their resilience, determination on the court, and excellence in the classroom and the community. We look forward to watching current and future Asheville tennis players train, compete, and thrive at the highest levels for decades to come." — David & Traci Meyer

"With four generations of family ties to UNC Asheville, this gift continues our belief in investing forward. I'm grateful to know the coaches and student‑athletes and am inspired by their dedication, success, and excellence on campus and beyond.  I am also excited to witness how this tennis facility positively impacts UNC Asheville and the entire Asheville community."— Zac Fligel

"I am so thankful to David and Traci Meyer and Zac Fligel for their transformational gifts," said Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone. "These contributions will help us continue to enhance the student-athlete experience, build high-level facilities to compete in Division I athletics, and provide the Asheville community with opportunities to engage in competitive tennis. This investment will impact generations to come, and we are incredibly grateful for their support."

The on-campus tennis facility was originally announced on July 18, 2024, as part of the ALL IN Comprehensive Campaign.

For more information about this project—including naming opportunities for the entire facility, individual tennis courts, locker rooms, lobby, or coaches' offices—please contact Janet R. Cone, Director of Athletics, at jcone@unca.edu or (828) 251-6922.
